Penultimate Day

Tuesday 7th April 2026

Back to early morning as it’s a school day today, followed by packing the main suitcase with “stuff” we won’t need; don’t want to rush about too much tomorrow morning!!

After an early lunch we headed to the pool, not so busy today, mind you the weather isn’t up to much.   We have moments of rain, lots of clouds interspersed with nice, warm sunshine, still our last day so had to do it.

Empty pool just for us

The highlight of day was later in the afternoon when Andrew took us to look at a prospective house that’s for sale.  This house is also in Woodfield but in the Kensington community, the main concern is that it backs onto a busy road; noise!!!

View of area

We arrived a few minutes early and waited but virtually the moment we switched off, the agent pulled up.   We wandered around this two story house, quite quirky, 3-beds, 3-bathrooms and a small plunge pool in the back garden, and here we got the full force of the traffic noise.   The reason this property had “appeal” to Andrew was the fact it was a “project”, though an American project, ie. it needed re-decorating and up-date a bathroom or two; oh yes It did need a new roof.   Apparently people replace their roofs after about 20/25 years!!!!  This place did nothing for either Christine or me, but we are not buying.

Back home and our last night, Christine cooked a delicious roast lamb dinner with all the trimmings; we were lucky to find a lamb joint, they don’t seem to be that popular in the local supermarkets, it’s all about beef.

After dinner we sat down, Christine had an email from Virgin informing us our flight had been cancelled and that they had put us on a flight that leaves 4-hours later.   That’s a b….y nuisance, we have train tickets booked and are not changeable!!!   We then tried to secure our seats but were unable to, but got a message to say they would be allocated at the gate.   When we brought our flight forward we paid to secure our preferred seats, now we have to wait; not happy bunnies as headed to our beds.
